Understanding Autism and Special Needs in our Community

Children with special needs and their families can sometimes feel alone and helpless. The lack of acknowledgement and understanding of different kinds of disabilities by the greater society, along with the stigmatism of disability is a harsh and undeserved punishment for children who did nothing to deserve their condition. A school that integrates typical families with families that have special needs sends a strong message that all families deserve the same quality of education and that it is not “wrong” to live with a disability.

One mission of Pantokrator is to convey to those living with special needs: “You are not alone.”  Not only are their other families in similar situations, but those who do not face the same challenges are also standing by your side. And to the parents of special needs children the message is the same: You are not alone in your mission to educate and provide for your child. There are others who will help by sharing what they have learned or simply by helping you provide the services your child needs to be happy and healthy in today’s world. Educating families and raising awareness in communities and the greater society is also part of Pantokrator’s mission.
